Visa Guide
Travel Advice & Visa Requirements
Travel visa requirements vary depending on your destination and the passport you are using. For up-to-date travel advice and information for Australian passport holders, please visit Smart Traveller website for the most recent information.
Many countries require your passport to have 6 months validity and at least 2 blank pages. Please be sure to check.
It’s essential to verify visa requirements for all transit stops, layovers, and final destinations as per your itinerary. Failure to have the correct visa for any part of your journey could result in being denied boarding and the forfeiture of your ticket. If you’re not an Australian citizen or are traveling with a passport from another country, it’s recommended to consult your country’s Consulate or Embassy for the most accurate and up-to-date visa information. Please ensure to ask us about your visa requirements when booking your next holiday with 123 Travel.
UK – Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)
An ETA allows you to travel to the UK to visit for up to 6 months. Whether you can apply depends on the date you travel and your nationality as shown on your passport. Please read updated information & apply online here.
Australians & New Zealand passport holders must apply for ETA if travelling into the UK on or after 8 January 2025. The easiest way to apply for UK ETA is by downloading the UK ETA App.
Applications can take 3 business days – you will get an email confirming your ETA. It costs £10 to apply. Everyone travelling needs to get an ETA, including babies and children. You can apply for other people.
USA – ESTA
Entry requirements into the US are strict. US authorities have broad powers to decide if you’re eligible to enter and may determine that you are inadmissible for any reason under US law. Check US entry, transit and exit requirements.
Australian Passport holders – If you’re visiting the United States for less than 90 days, including just transiting, you may be eligible to:
- apply for an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) and
- then enter under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP)
Otherwise, you’ll need to get a visa before you travel. Whether you’re travelling on a visa or under the VWP, ensure that you understand all relevant terms and conditions before attempting to enter the US.
Frequent flyers to the US may benefit from fast track entry through the Global Entry Program.Â
See more information and apply for ESTA online.
Canada– ETA
Australian passport holders must apply for an electronic travel authorisation (eTA) before travelling to Canada by air.
If you arrive by car, bus, train, or boat, you don’t need an ETA or a visitor visa, but you do need to bring the correct travel documents. You may not be allowed into Canada if you have a criminal record, including a drink-driving conviction. Check Government of Canada for details.

New Zealand - Traveller Declaration
Everyone travelling into New Zealand must complete a declaration, including New Zealand passport holders. It is free and you can do it on the online form or the NZTD app.
A declaration needs to be completed for each traveller, including babies and children.
You can submit your declaration from 24 hours before your flight or 24 hours before you depart your last port into NZ if arriving by cruise.Â
Your declaration is linked to your passport and is checked when you arrive at the eGate or by a border officer. If you are a New Zealand visa or NZeTA holder, you still need to complete an NZTD as well.
