Nicolette has been in the travel industry for over 12 years. She has specialised in family travel for many years. She loves to travel and experience new destinations with food, wine and culture. It’s always nice to experience somewhere different to home. But I must admit we do live in an amazing part of the world.
Countries Travelled: Botswana, South Africa, Hawaii, California, Hawaii, Maldives, Tahiti, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Samoa, New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Indonesia, Macau, Taiwan, Japan.
Favourite Destination and Why: I have too many favourites! Here’s a few of my top picks:
Botswana – I loved being out in the wilderness viewing the animals!
The game drives were amazing, it’s so exciting you don’t know what to expect around the corner. I loved coming back to our lodge viewing the hippos, elephants, warthogs and other animals from our lodge, this was truly an amazing experience.
I have never seen the stars shine so brightly in the night sky and hearing the animals in the background while you eat dinner, sip on champagne or while you lay in bed was an experience I will never forget. Botswana has definitely made me want to go back and experience more of Africa.
Danube River Cruising – Cruising down the Danube viewing castles while sipping on a glass of champagne was just so relaxing. It’s so nice unpacking your bags once and getting off daily to experiences different places instead of packing and unpacking if you were to stay at a hotel.
Italy – Such a beautiful country, I loved the variety Italy has to offer whether it’s walking along the beautiful colourful cliffside coastline of Cinque Terre’s 5 villages, the beautiful countryside of Tuscany, taking a gondola ride through the waterways of Venice and the beautiful city of Rome. I’m not usually a city person, however I loved Rome.
Tahiti – Such a beautiful place, the snorkelling was amazing! I was a little scared at first swimming with the sharks and stingrays, unlike my 5-year-old who was straight in there with them!
Favourite Travel Tip: Make sure you check your passport validity (most countries you need 6 months from your return dates). Make sure you have your visas sorted.
Take a change of clothes on board with you and your medical supplies. Make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing and shoes for the country you are travelling to in case your luggage disappears.
You don’t want to be without clothes and your essential medical supplies.
Favourite Food Overseas: Sri Lankan, all their curries were amazing, so full of flavour and varied from restaurant to restaurant. I eat meat however I could have eaten vegetarian every day in Sri Lanka it was sooooo good. My favourite would have been the eggplant and jackfruit curry! Plus, their food is really cheap!
Next Trip/Holiday: South America (Peru)
I’ve always wanted to travel to the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Cuzco and the Amazon. I’ll be able to tick this off my list next year!
